Jul 9, 2025 | Company updates, News

The Promatic Games user interface, has been certified by an independent auditor as compliant with the WCAG 2.1 standard. This means the studio’s content meets the accessibility requirements set out by both the European and Polish Accessibility Acts. By meeting more than 40 WCAG 2.1 criteria, Promatic Games raises the bar for accessibility in online gaming.

In anticipation of the European Accessibility Act (EAA) which entered into force on 28 June 2025, Promatic Games underwent a rigorous digital-accessibility audit to ensure full compliance with the Polish Accessibility Act—the national implementation of the EAA. Independent, certified expert— a court-appointed digital-accessibility auditor accredited by the Polish Minister of Justice — verified alignment of Promatic Games user interface with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, based on the studio’s most popular online slot game – Miss Joker.

The game successfully passed more than 40 success criteria—ensuring reliable accessibility for users with visual, auditory, cognitive, or mobility limitations. When launched in high-accessibility mode, these games can be perceived, understood, and navigated by all users—regardless of individual abilities or the software and hardware they choose.

Promatic Games has implemented extensive enhancements across its portfolio in order to meet WCAG 2.1 requirements. A dedicated High Accessibility Mode can be selected on the loading screen—prior to pressing the “Continue” button—empowering players to activate an interface optimized for assistive technologies. Key improvements include:

  • Improved color contrast and scalable fonts for superior readability.
  • Full keyboard navigation with clearly visible focus indicators across all interface elements.
  • Enhanced compatibility with screen readers through additional ARIA labels and hidden contextual descriptions unavailable in the standard mode.
  • Streamlined, consistent interaction patterns across devices, ensuring reliable behaviour on desktop, mobile, and embedded terminals.
  • Time-sensitive elements modified to give users adequate response time.

When High Accessibility Mode is enabled, every button and interactive component shifts to high-contrast colours, the complete UI becomes keyboard-accessible on any supported device, and certain functions expose supplementary descriptive text designed for users of assistive technologies.

These updates guarantee that Promatic Games’ content remains fully perceivable, operable and understandable—not only for players with visual, auditory, cognitive or mobility limitations, but also for users navigating with diverse hardware or under challenging environmental conditions.

By aligning with WCAG 2.1, Promatic Games is taking a proactive step toward building a more inclusive digital world. As accessibility becomes a growing focus in regulatory frameworks and user expectations worldwide, our initiative places us at the forefront of responsible game development.

We believe that accessibility is not just a legal requirement – it’s a design philosophy that benefits everyone. More accessible games mean more enjoyable, frictionless experiences for all our users.

What is WCAG 2.1?

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are a set of internationally recognized standards developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to make digital content more accessible. Version 2.1, released in 2018, builds on earlier versions by introducing additional requirements that address accessibility barriers for users with:

  • Vision impairments (e.g. low vision, color blindness)
  • Hearing impairments
  • Limited mobility or motor skills
  • Cognitive and learning disabilities

WCAG 2.1 is organized around four key principles, known as POUR:

  • Perceivable – information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive.
  • Operable – interface components and navigation must be usable via keyboard and assistive technologies.
  • Understandable – information and operation of the interface must be clear and predictable.
  • Robust – content must be compatible with a wide range of current and future technologies, including assistive devices.
